Katie Lee Biegel Just Shared This 1-Ingredient Upgrade for the Best Caesar Salad - EatingWell

At EatingWell, we love Caesar salad as much as you do. In fact, we’re predicting the iconic creamy flavor to be a top food trend for 2024. But if you wish that this traditional salad could be taken up a notch, you’re going to fall in love with Katie Lee Biegel’s version.

We’re excited to see that one of our favorite food stars just shared a delicious way to elevate a Caesar salad—and it’s perfect for a flavor-boosting crunch. Here’s what The Kitchen co-host made that had fans saying “Yum!”

First, Biegel made a homemade dressing, and we’re all for it. We think that salad dressings are totally better whipped up at home instead of buying by the bottle, and this Caesar Salad Dressing recipe is a classic.

With a base of romaine hearts, Biegel tosses in her dressing and Parmesan cheese. Instead of croutons, the cook adds in crunchy breadcrumbs that she toasted with garlic and butter on the stove. This will give the tasty texture of croutons in each bite—we love adding toasted breadcrumbs in our own Kale & Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad with Avocado Caesar Dressing

But while this would be a vibrant forkful as is, we’re most excited about the final touch: easy fried capers. This 1-ingredient addition makes Biegel’s salad unique and even more mouthwatering. All she did was add 2 tablespoons of capers (patted dry with a paper towel) into a small skillet over medium heat with ¼ cup olive oil. Biegel fried the capers until crispy, which she noted to take about 5 minutes.

Biegel made the perfect side that embraces a briny, lemony tang with these crispy capers on top. Whether you’re serving glazed salmon or a pasta bake, you’ll want to add this salad to your dinner table tonight and for many evenings to come.
