Ina Garten’s Newest Dessert Is Packed With Fall Flavor & Perfect for Thanksgiving - SheKnows

If you haven’t started planning your Thanksgiving menu yet, let Ina Garten help you. The Barefoot Contessa just shared a mouth-wateringly good pumpkin dessert recipe on the Food Network YouTube channel — and you’re definitely going to want to serve this at Thanksgiving this year.

Pumpkin pie is a classic — and we’ll eat practically anything pumpkin flavored! — but Garten’s Pumpkin Flan with Maple Caramel looks so unique and delicious.

“It’s kind of like a mix of pumpkin pie and crème caramel,” she says in the video shared Oct. 15. The recipe calls for maple syrup and other ingredients for the caramel, and pumpkin puree, Italian mascarpone, pure maple extract, and other ingredients for the pumpkin flan. (Garten notes in the video that you should take care to get pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling. They come in similar cans, but they are very different.)

First, you make the maple caramel using a heavy-bottomed saucepan and a candy thermometer to make sure it hits the right temperature. Once it’s made, you’ll pour it in an 8-by-2-inch round cake pan and set aside to cool for 30 minutes.

Make the pumpkin flan by mixing many of your ingredients with a whisk attachment in your electric mixer, beating on medium-low until smooth. You’ll then add other ingredients and spices, whisking them in until blended. From there, slowly pour the pumpkin mixture over the maple caramel that’s already in the pan. You want it to be layered, not mixed together. Garten then gives it a “water bath,” which she demonstrates in the video.

This recipe contains a lot of “baking and chilling,” which isn’t great for impatient chefs, but if you can handle it, it’s so, so worth it. Altogether, Garten estimates the prep and chilling time to take about 4 hours, 45 minutes, but the recipe itself only has 25 minutes of active time.

When Garten finally flips the chilled flan onto a plate, the maple glaze spreads out over the flan and surrounds it on the plate. Yum!

“Mmm, so creamy and absolutely delicious,” Garten says as she tries the flan. “I don’t know, I may have to skip the turkey and go directly to the dessert. This is fabulous!” New family tradition?

“That flan looks delicious!🍮🥄,” one person commented on the video.

Someone else wrote, “Ina. You are the best ❤.”

If you are looking for a delicious, creamy dessert that is jam-packed with flavor in every bite, you can’t go wrong with Garten’s pumpkin flan. The dessert is sure to be a huge hit at your fall family gathering.
